Impromptu Dance Party Leads to Hangover
Yep it’s true. After a nice inexpensive dinner at the reliable El Myr, we headed home. On the way we heard Siouxsie and the Banshees’ version of The Passenger. Of course we cranked it and when we got home, in went Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life – LOUD. This lead to an impromptu dance party, just me and Joyce, taking two song turns DJing from 8 pm to 1 am!
Here’s a sample of what we heard:
Iggy Pop
Simple Minds
Haircut 100
New Order
George Clinton
B-52’s
King Kong
Grace Jones
Super Furry Animals
Weekend
Love Jones
Holly and the Italians
Gun Club
King Crimson
Cheap Trick
Thin Lizzy
Brian Eno/David Byrne
Oingo Boingo
Gang of Four
Temple of Sound
PJ Harvey
The Who
The Plugz
Redd Kross
Thomas Dolby
XTC
The Shocking Blue
Level 42
Talking Heads
The Reivers
Needless to say, it’s taken me much of the day to recover.
Gang of Four US Tour!
Gang of Four have a gig at the fab Barbican in London on 9/24 and then they head over here to show us what’s what. What’s most impressive is that tickets at Earthlink Live! here in Atlanta are only $19! (plus the monopoly rip off service charges – I have no idea how Ticketmaster gets away with it). We saw them while visiting Steven Venn in Toronto earlier this year and all I have to say is, “Get your butt there!”

The Feds Have Failed
I’m gonna say it right now. The federal government has had a disastrous failure in their handling of hurricane Katrina. With no disrespect to the people of Mississippi, what is going in New Orleans is shameful and inexcusable. Something tells me that George Bush’s smug smile will be able to just wash the controversy away. That being said, the behavior of some of the people in New Orleans is just as pathetic. It’s like a scenario from the movie Escape from New York.
Very sad.
