X Are The REAL Thing!
Went with Joyce, sister L-Bo, Lisa, Lori, and Susan to see X last night at The Masquerade. Other than seeing them in 82, and around 84 in Michigan, the last time I saw them was at the old Moonshadow Saloon next door to the Pitch and Putt beer store in 1986 (?). That was with Tony Gilkyson on guitar. Now the original lineup with Billy Zoom on guitar is back and boy are they smokin’!
Julianna Hatfield opened up and I’m definitely a fan of hers, especially when she was with Blake Babies. She gave an admirable performance, but I’m not sure it was much of a match with X.
The songs from the first 4 X albums are seared into my brain – I grew up with their music, playing my guitar along to their records. Other than it being at the shithole Masquerade, it was a wonderful time to see them play so well and intensly and having so much fun. Looks like they’re headed up the east coast to by all means check them out!
